UAB Axioma Servisas continues contributing to the modernisation projects within the only oil refining and import company in the Baltic States, AB ORLEN Lietuva. Experts from the Klaipėda division successfully updated the air-gas compressor equipment control system and installed the S-400 section electrical equipment in the factory located in Mažeikiai district. To date, most of the projects at the client’s company were carried out by the Mažeikiai division’s team with many years of experience in the specific field of the oil and gas industry.
Updated air-gas compressor equipment control system
Throughout the implementation of the air-gas compressor equipment control system updates, Axioma Servisas performed electrical and automation part design, programming, equipment installation, and start-up adjustment works. Although the design work was completed last year, all the main works at the facility took place during the scheduled overhaul of the refinery in May-June.
Installation works covered entry panels for power, self-starting, valve control, gasket connection, and electric heating devices as well as pump and valve control stations. Also installed was a new control system (some four panels). Outdated pressure, level, discharge, and temperature measuring devices were replaced with new ones, and cables, alongside the tracks and heated enclosures with impulse lines, were installed.
Upon replacing the necessary air-gas compressor equipment, its programming and start-up adjustment works were carried out.
Section S-400 electrical and automation equipment modernisation works
Axioma Servisas concurrently carried out another AB ORLEN Lietuva project, i.e., the update of the section S-400 responsible for water steam generation. “Axioma Servisas” supplied and installed the necessary electrical and automation equipment. The design and programming work was done by the client.
The Klaipėda division’s team replaced the entry power cages, control stations for motors and electric gaskets, pressure, level, discharge rate, and temperature measuring devices, positioners on adjustable valves, installed and adjusted pneumatic cylinders, and expanded the control system. Also installed were a heated cabinet for measuring devices, as well as cables and their tracks.
Key works were completed in 7 weeks
The updating of the air-gas compressor equipment control system and the installation of the S-400 electrical and automation equipment had to be implemented in just seven weeks.
“Due to delayed supply of materials and equipment, we were unable to complete much of the preparatory work before the scheduled overhaul. Consequently, throughout the shutdown period, we had to make the best possible use of human resources to implement all the modernisation works on time,” Project Manager Gintautas Tiškevičius said, discussing the challenges.
A good share of Axioma Servisas designers, electricians, and engineers-adjusters contributed to the projects. Around 40 company and partner specialists worked in the facility at once. “I am proud and grateful to the entire team of the Klaipėda division, which organised and implemented these ambitious projects,” G. Tiškevičius said.
