Two Alfa Laval heat exchangers are already in operation at Obeliu Distillery, a branch of Vilnius degtine UAB

Axioma servisas UAB, the largest service provider to the industry in Lithuania, regularly carries out equipment modernization projects in the country’s largest companies and supplies them with various technological equipment. At the end of May, two Alfa Laval heat exchangers were delivered to the only distillery operating in Lithuania, UAB Vilniaus degtinė.

One of Vilniaus degtinė’s plants, the Obeliu Distillery, was modernized with a new production line. It was here that two modern Alfa Laval heat exchangers supplied by Axioma servisas were installed.

Heat exchangers tailored to customer needs

The purpose of the heat exchangers in the customer’s production line is to cool the mash (wort) to a temperature suitable for the fermentation process. Given the high solids content of the wort, Axioma’s specialists selected WideGap heat exchangers, which are designed to work with high viscosity media.

“Alfa Laval has designed two heat exchangers of this type, each with a capacity of more than 1 MW, capable of processing up to 19 000 kilograms of wort or 42 000 kilograms of water per hour.

WideGap heat exchanger – a solution for challenging environments

WideGap heat exchangers are specially designed for high viscosity and particulate media such as wort, fruit juices with pulp, waste water or sugar solutions. Due to the increased plate spacing, these units allow for efficient processing of materials that would be challenging for conventional plate heat exchangers.

Also, the design of the heat exchanger reduces the risk of sediment build-up, as the flow effectively removes solid particles. This helps to reduce downtime, reduce cleaning and prolong the life of the unit.
