Axioma Servisas modernizes Klaipėdos Energija boiler rooms: new electricity metering equipment is being installed

Having won more than 250 public procurement contracts this year, UAB Axioma Servisas continues its work on modernizing the country’s corporate infrastructure. This time, the company is implementing an upgrade of electricity metering systems at one of the oldest energy companies in the country, AB Klaipėdos Energija.

Eight boiler rooms are being upgraded

Due to changes in commercial accounting requirements, the electricity metering equipment used by Klaipėdos energija no longer met the new accuracy standards. For this reason, it was decided to modernize the electricity meters and data reading systems of eight boiler houses.

Under the contract signed with Axioma Servisas, new electrical and automation equipment will be designed, delivered, installed, and commissioned. The work will be carried out at eight sites: the Klaipėda central boiler house, the power plant, Gargždai No. 2, 4, 5 and 6 and the Lypkių and Geotermos boiler houses.

Installation of equipment has begun

During the modernization, electricity meters, current transformers, converters, programmable logic controllers (PLC), routers, and other electrical and automation equipment will be replaced. It must comply with the new commercial accounting accuracy requirements.

Work began in mid-July at the Lypkių boiler house. Once installation is complete, the team of technicians will connect the new and existing equipment into a single system. The same procedure will be followed for the renovation of other boiler houses.

Individual solutions for each facility

In total, over 240 meters, more than 140 transformers, and over 100 electrical cabinets will be installed and renovated. Each boiler room has different infrastructure, so an individual assessment by specialists is required – the situation is analyzed on site, and the most appropriate solutions are decided upon in cooperation between designers and installers.

“We are familiar with the work, but the challenge is the deadline. We have to complete everything in eight boiler rooms by October, i.e., before the start of the heating season,” says project manager Jonas Dromantas.
