At the world-class packaging elements plant being built next to the Marijampolė LEZ, the Axioma servisas team stretched and joined a record-breaking conveyor belt of 330 metres. This is the longest belt ever stretched in the history of the Conveyor Systems Service Group.
The installation of the rubber belt, which weighs almost five tonnes, took four days and required a lot of patience on the part of the specialists. The company also glued 16 smaller tapes.
“We are delighted to have overcome this tape and to have gained invaluable, unique experience. Only a few companies in Lithuania could have carried out work of this complexity and were willing to take on such a challenge,” says Vytautas Miknevičius, Project Manager at the Vilnius Equipment Repair Department.
The highly automated pallet elements factory has a wood cutting line from a German manufacturer with no analogues in the world, which was developed individually to the order of a Lithuanian company. The advanced technological solutions used in the line will be introduced to the wider market only after the implementation of this project.
“As a company, we have never come face to face with a conveyor and construction of such complexity. The main problems were the awkward access and the high friction between the belt and the structure. In addition, the height of the conveyor was 5-6 metres in some places, which meant that additional equipment was needed to carry out the work,” says V. Miknevičius.
The work at the new plant was not the only work carried out by Axioma servisas specialists – at the same time, the Radviliškis site redesigned the conveyor structure and installed a powerful magnet to collect metal particles mixed in the sawdust.
Only a couple of years old, the Axioma servisas conveyor systems service group has already gained the trust of the largest companies that use conveyors in their operations.
