“Axioma servisas” is contributing to another important project for AB “Kauno energija” – the installation of an absorption heat pump with a second-stage flue gas condensing economizer at the Nemunas boiler house. The project aims to improve the energy efficiency of Biomass Boilers No. 1 and No. 2 while reducing the amount of particulate matter emitted into the environment with flue gases.
Comprehensive Electrical and Automation Works
Under an agreement with the project’s general contractor, “Axioma servisas” will carry out all electrical and automation installation works – from design through to full system commissioning. The scope of work includes equipment supply, installation, programming, commissioning and adjustment, as well as preparation of the required technical documentation.
A wide range of electrical and automation equipment will be supplied for the project, including electrical cabinets, control panels, variable frequency drives, cables and cable routing systems, lighting solutions, pressure and temperature sensors, flow meters, and other necessary components.
All equipment will be selected and ordered upon completion of the design phase.
Three Heat Metering Systems for Performance Evaluation
In accordance with the Client’s technical requirements, three heat metering systems will be installed to enable accurate evaluation of the system’s performance: in the heating circuit, the district heating water circuit, and the intermediate circuit between the absorption heat pump and the flue gas condensing economizer.
This will ensure consistent monitoring of energy flows at different stages of the process, enabling real-time analysis of heat generation and recovery. The collected data will allow for accurate assessment of equipment efficiency, optimization of operating modes, and data-driven decisions regarding system operation.
Automated and Flexible Control
All equipment will be fully automated and controlled through the Client’s existing SCADA system. “Axioma servisas” will also ensure seamless integration of the new solutions into the existing infrastructure.
The system will also allow the absorption heat pump to operate with both biomass boilers simultaneously or with either boiler individually. This will provide greater flexibility and reliability, including in situations where one of the boilers is shut down.
Experience from Previous Projects
In 2022, the company installed a 2.4 MW absorption heat pump together with a second-stage flue gas condensing economizer at another “Kauno energija” facility – the biomass boiler house of the Petrašiūnai Power Plant.
This experience will help ensure the highest quality of work and a smooth implementation of the new project.
