Axioma Servisas successfully completed a large-scale project in the United Kingdom by installing two advanced sugar beet pulp drying units at a sugar manufacturing facility. One of the units stands nearly 22 metres tall and weighs as much as 350 tonnes.
The project, which included both the manufacturing and installation of the two units, was completed within the planned 18-month timeframe. The total project value exceeded EUR 6 million.
Advanced Technology That Enables Energy Recovery and Reuse
The drying units were manufactured by the Danish company EnerDry, which develops advanced industrial drying technologies based on superheated steam under the SteamDryer concept. This is a significantly more sophisticated solution than conventional hot-air drying, as it uses a closed-loop steam system instead of heated air.
In most conventional drying systems, the hot, moisture-laden air generated during the drying process is released into the atmosphere, resulting in substantial energy losses. The closed-loop system developed by EnerDry’s engineers recirculates this energy, allowing it to be recovered and reused. This significantly improves process efficiency while reducing energy consumption and CO₂ emissions.
Precision Inspection of Steel Structures Before Transportation
The installation of the drying units was carried out in three stages.
During the first stage, individual structural modules were fabricated from steel components. In the second stage, these modules were fully assembled to verify that all dimensions precisely matched the client’s engineering drawings. Only after thorough inspection were the units dismantled and transported to the United Kingdom.
Once the steel structures arrived on site, assembly of the dryer shells began, followed by the installation of the internal process equipment.

Applications of Sugar Beet Pulp
Sugar beet pulp is widely used as livestock feed, a soil improvement material, and for various other agricultural applications. More recently, some companies have also been exploring its potential for manufacturing paper products and biodegradable packaging materials.
About EnerDry
EnerDry is a Danish company founded in 1998. Its patented steam drying technology has received international recognition and awards in numerous countries. In addition to sugar beet pulp, EnerDry’s drying technology can also be used for drying wood chips, grain residues, sludge, fibrous materials, and lignite (brown coal).
