At the beginning of spring, Axioma servisas signed two contracts with AB Šiaulių energija for the maintenance of the turbogenerator MAN Energy Solutions with auxiliary equipment and the repair of the generator of the cogeneration plant. According to the contracts, the turbine and auxiliary equipment were to be scheduled for repair and the faulty generator was to be repaired by 23 August.
While the generator was being repaired, the Šiaulių energija CHP plant had not been generating electricity for several months, so every day that would bring the turbine back on line was very important. “Thanks to the Axioma servisas team, the work was completed on 28 July – almost a month ahead of schedule.
“This result could not have been achieved without the professional efforts of the Axioma servisas staff. All the most difficult situations were perfectly controlled and coordinated,” says Rolandas Kiškūnas, Head of the Southern Boiler House at Šiaulių energija.
The turbogenerator was scheduled to be repaired after 50 000 hours of operation, as specified in the maintenance documents: a number of turbogenerator parts and materials that needed to be replaced were replaced, and damaged parts were transported to the manufacturer’s workshop in Germany for repair.
A major challenge was the repair of a faulty 10 kV 10.81 MW turbine-generator, the main turbine-generator of the CHP plant. The generator, weighing around 36 tonnes, was lifted from the plant premises by crane and transported to the manufacturer’s workshop in Austria.
“One of the most difficult challenges was that the maintenance of the turbine-generator had to be carried out before the repaired generator was returned from the manufacturer abroad, so that the turbine and generator could be put into operation immediately. The Axioma servisas team also took on this challenge and met it with excellence,” says Kiškūnas.
Axioma servisas provides service and maintenance services for industrial plants, offering process automation and modernisation solutions. The company has a team of 300 engineers ready to provide 24 hours a day, 7 days a week upgrade, repair and maintenance services in all Baltic countries.
