VKG Oil, a subsidiary of Viru Keemia Grupp, has selected partners to carry out a large-scale reconstruction project of the Petroter I shale oil plant, including the refurbishment of the reactor. According to the agreement signed with “Axioma Servisas”, reactor seals will be produced for the company by the end of June according to a special order, followed by equipment installation and commissioning. The installation works will be carried out in accordance with the equipment maintenance contract signed at the end of 2021.
In the shale oil plants using “Petroter” technology, shale oil is produced by pyrolysis, i.e., burning oil at high temperatures. VKG Oil has three plants of this type. The seals supplied by “Axioma Servisas” connect the raw material inlet and outlet units of the rotating reactor. This is a unique VKG Oil patented sealing technology that has been used in Petroter plants for a long time.
“The main challenge of the project will be the production phase. Manufacturing these seals requires large carousel-type metalworking machines, of which there are only a few in the Baltics. In addition, the current global situation makes it very difficult to obtain certain metals,” said Darius Imbrasas, Head of the Service Division of Estonia.
“Axis Tech Estonia” metal processing plant will also contribute to the implementation of this project.
“Axioma Servisas” also provides other services to VKG Oil – its specialists perform maintenance and regular (scheduled) repairs of shale plant equipment, provide full service at least twice a year and, if necessary, promptly eliminate emergency failures.
