Kaunas MBA drum sifters repaired by Axioma Servisas

UAB Axioma Servisas, a provider of services to industry and infrastructure companies, has signed a new contract worth EUR 110,000 with the environmental management institution VšĮ Kauno regiono atliekų tvarkymo centras. The contract commits specialists from the Vilnius service unit to provide mechanical equipment repair services – refurbishment of two drum screeners at the Kaunas Mechanical Biological Waste Treatment (Kauno MBA) facility.

Waste separation equipment to be repaired

The waste treatment process at Kaunas MBA starts with the drum screeners, which separate municipal solid waste.

The existing drum screeners are a very important part of the overall technological process of sorting municipal waste. In order to ensure efficient and reliable operation, the client decided to upgrade the equipment. It was these screens that were repaired by Axioma Servisas specialists.

Replacement of worn out components

Worn out internal components were replaced for the two plants mentioned above. Axioma Servisas replaced 24 pieces of 250 mm and 36 pieces of 80 mm diameter perforated plates for each drum screener.

After the replacement of the worn components, the balance of the drums was adjusted.

“We are very familiar with Kaunas MBA equipment and have been servicing it for many years. On the other hand, the team faced challenges in dismantling the old perforated screens of the drum sifter,” says project manager Žilvinas Ratkevičius.

A team of up to 10 specialists contributed to the repair of the plant.

About the client

The Kaunas Mechanical Biological Waste Treatment Plant (Kauno MBA) treats mixed municipal waste from Jonava, Kaišiadorys, Raseiniai and Kaunas city and district. The waste is treated in mechanical separation and sorting facilities – separated secondary raw materials are sent for recycling or other uses, such as energy recovery, while biodegradable materials are composted.
