Cooperation with Okseta continues – installation of electrical-automation parts in facilities belonging to Kauno Energija

Cooperation with UAB Okseta, a supplier of special construction and installation works, continues. Last year, two more contracts were signed for the execution of electrical-automation works at the Petrašiūnai power plant and the Pergalė boiler house belonging to Kauno Energija.

Comprehensive installation of the E/A part

Axioma servisas specialists are pleased to have been able to contribute to the modernization of the company supplying district heating to Kaunas residents. At the Petrašiūnai power plant and the Pergalė boiler house, it was decided to upgrade the pumping stations. The dismantling, installation and cold start-ups were carried out by specialists from the Kaunas Service Department.

The necessary equipment was also supplied: cables, cable routes, panels, frequency converters, measuring instruments and others E/A components.

Reconstruction of the Petrašiūnai Power Station

During the project, the Axioma servisas team dismantled the unnecessary E/A panels, electrical equipment and cables of the power station, and installed state-of-the-art electrical-automatic equipment.

“It was an interesting challenge – the modern equipment had to be integrated into the existing electrical switchgear panels etc. These had to be adapted to modern E/A equipment,” says Project Manager Donatas Naruševičius about the subtleties of the project.

The new and existing boiler plant equipment was then integrated into a single SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) process control and visualization system. This was followed by cold commissioning and debugging. The customer carried out hot tests on its own and commissioned the rebuilt pumping station at the beginning of October 2024, before the start of the heating season.

Reconstruction of the electricity distribution system and installation of a new generator at the Pergalė boiler house

The Pergalė boiler house has had its pumping station renovated, its electricity distribution system reconstructed and a new generator installed. Axioma servisas carried out the electrical-automation part of this project in three phases. First, two pumps, cables, their structures and frequency converters were installed. This was followed by an upgrade of the control system and the programming of the automatic standby power supply (ASPS). The installation of the controllers and the programming of the AHU was carried out by Axioma servisas, while the programming of the other parts was carried out by the client.

The final stage of the work involved the connection of the generator and the new electrical section. The installation work in the electrical switchgear and the pumping station was carried out in parallel.

“This was the most challenging phase. The timing was long, as the end customer had to move some of the equipment from one electricity substation to another. Only after these changes were made was permission given to connect the reconstructed substation and to carry out the ASPS tests with the newly installed generator,” says Project Manager D. Naruševičius.
