Axioma servisas to install and debug automation equipment at Vilnius CHP plant

Another Axioma servisas team starts work on one of Lithuania’s largest energy projects – the Vilnius CHP plant. According to the contract signed with Yokogawa Polska, a leader in industrial automation solutions, Axioma servisas electrical and automation specialists are to lay 80 km of cables, install automation equipment and devices, and coordinate them by mid-summer.

“The opportunity to contribute to the construction of a strategic facility in Lithuania is both obliging and gratifying,” says Tomas Gerdauskas, Head of Axioma servisas’ Vilnius Division. – Automation work is always carried out at the end of the construction works, so the success of the whole project depends on how much time we will have to complete our work. Practice shows that deadlines are often tight. But we are not afraid of challenges, we have an excellent project management and specialist team, and we are ready and able to work to tight schedules.”

Last year, the Axioma servisas team carried out similar work at the Kaunas CHP plant, installing and commissioning automation equipment that controls over 800 signals, laying about 48 km of cabling and almost 2 km of instrumentation piping.

“The successful completion of works at the Kaunas CHP plant confirmed the strong engineering competence of our team, and the experience gained in a similar project undoubtedly facilitated the customer’s decision to work with us,” says Gerdauskas, adding that the team’s familiarity with the site allows it to carry out the work even more efficiently.

The Vilnius CHP plant will have a large Axioma servisas team: at peak times, over 40 installers may be needed, a full team of adjusters, and the site will be staffed by 2 works managers as well as a project manager. Part of the team will be the same as the one in Kaunas.

Currently, the Axioma servisas Vilnius team is installing SBE (Steinmuller Babcock Environment GmbH) steam boiler instrumentation at the Vilnius CHP plant: level sensors, pressure and temperature control instrumentation, and building and installing impulse lines.
