Alytaus šilumos tinklai, controlled by Alytus City Municipality, continues the modernisation of its heating facilities – a project completed in the summer, during which the worn out tubes of the boiler’s steam superheater were replaced, biofuel platforms and scrapers were installed, and chain conveyor components and other technological equipment were renewed.
Last year, the team of Axioma Servisas also carried out two modernisation projects at the customer’s company: they replaced technically redundant heat network pumps and updated the biofuel boiler control and visualisation (SCADA) system.
Supply and replacement of boiler tubes
The tubes of the first stage steam superheater of the 20 MW biofuel boiler were manufactured by a custom order. After consulting with the equipment manufacturers, the Axioma Servisas team ordered 31.8 mm diameter, 16 Mo3 (molybdenum steel) tubes, which are resistant to heat and deformation.
The furnace, convection and festoon parts in the boiler plant of Alytaus šilumos tinklai were sandblasted with abrasive material, and the tubes made in Finland were replaced and welded. 17 tubes were replaced in the first stage steam superheater.
Conveyor renewal
The chain conveyors used in the boiler plant were updated by replacing the following: the bottom of the conveyor with rigid edges, chains, sprockets, shafts, bearings with bearing housings, runners, their holders, clamps and other worn out components.
Installation of biofuel platforms with scrapers
Furthermore, 6 new fuel storage platforms, 6 scrapers and 24 fenders were installed in the boiler plant of Alytaus šilumos tinklai.
Before installation work began, the worn out platforms and warehouse flooring were dismantled. The part of the warehouse where the new equipment was being installed was fenced off with 25 concrete Lego blocks because regular processes were continued in the other part.
Renovation completed as planned
Axioma Servisas specialists performed the replacement of the previously mentioned and other smaller boiler equipment (boiler sand discharge compensator, blade pneumatic sand screens, smoke dampers, etc.) according to a plan agreed in advance with the customer.
20 specialists of the company and partners contributed to the renovation of the boiler plant of Alytaus šilumos tinklai. The value of all performed works has been estimated at 300 thousand euros.
After the renovation of the system supplying hot water and heat to the residents of the city of Alytus, it will become even safer and more reliable.
