Klaipėdos Energija AB supplying district heating services in Klaipėda and Gargždai is taking measures that will help it enhance the efficiency coefficient of the regional boiler plant by installing the absorption heat pump during the pilot project.
Axioma Servisas will ensure structural and equipment design, composition of the required equipment and materials, preparation of the engineering design, construction, supply of the absorption heat pump and flue gas condensing economizer, as well as mounting, start-up and tune-up works. The first stage for the project, i.e., engineering, shall commence shortly. Following implementation of the innovative solution, part of heat shall be recovered from the steam, generated during the combustion process, the temperature of which can reach 45 degrees. It will be utilised to heat the water used for technological needs of the boiler plant, while the steam, cooled to 25 degrees, will be discarded via the chimney into the atmosphere, thus further enhancing the boiler plant efficiency. Moreover, the visible pollution will also be reduced – the clouds of steam coming from the chimney will be much smaller.
The operation of the absorption heat pump shall commence in the second half of July of the coming year. It has been estimated that return on this investment will be achieved within five years.
