Axioma servisas continues its cooperation with the Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant, which manages Lithuania’s nuclear legacy. At the beginning of the year, another contract was signed, under which a team from the Vilnius service department undertook to carry out the maintenance of the automated sewage pumping plant.
Work will be carried out periodically
Maintenance work on the automated sewage pumping plant will be carried out periodically. Quarterly checks will be carried out on the operation of the protection alarm, readings of the flow and level devices, cleaning of the ventilation grilles and filters and other works. Once a year, specialists will check pump algorithms, the operation of electric actuators and valves and other services.
For the entire duration of the contract, i.e. one year, the work listed above will be carried out according to a schedule agreed with the customer.
Strictly controlled area
The automated sewage pumping station is located in a strictly controlled area, where access is restricted to personnel from companies with the specified qualifications and complying with occupational health and safety legislation.
In addition, companies must be licensed to carry out activities in the ionizing radiation environment of a nuclear facility.
About the client
The Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant is the only one of its kind in the Baltic States, operating between 1983 and 2009. The two RBMK-1500 reactors, one with a thermal capacity of 4800 MW and the power plant with 1500 MW, produced about 80% of the electricity needed by the Lithuanian state. Today, one of the IAE’s main objectives is to implement the immediate dismantling of the decommissioned plant without leaving future generations with an unreasonable burden of radioactive waste management. After the final operation and decommissioning of the plant, the company will continue to operate the radioactive waste storage infrastructure, which will need to be in place by 2080.
