Axioma Servisas specialists, holding many years of experience in maintenance of boiler plants, continue the modernisation of the country’s heat sector – after winning the public tender announced by Litesko UAB, they undertook to carry out repairs at the boiler plant in Druskininkai. During the project, the specialists from the Kaunas Equipment Repair Department will carry out repairs of the floor of the fuel warehouse, the first part, and refurbish other elements of the fuel warehouse.
Repair work has already started
In order to ensure reliable and safe heat production using the most cost-effective and sustainable heat generation equipment, the customer decided to renew the flooring of one part of the biofuel warehouse in the underground fuel storage facility by removing the top rough layer of the floor and installing a new polyurethane-cement flooring. Also, to renew or partially replace elements of the equipment that have been affected in the course of operation.
Six fuel scrapers and all the fixing and fuel diversion units installed on each biofuel feeding platform have already been dismantled in the biofuel warehouse of the Druskininkai boiler plant. Following installation of the new flooring, five scrapers will be returned to the refurbished platforms and one will be replaced with a newly manufactured one. In addition, 24 new counter-blade assemblies will be installed, as well as new scraper guiding units.
Precipitation and air temperature are the biggest challenges
Currently, the top working concrete layer of the fuel warehouse floor has been removed by milling, the base for pouring the coating has been prepared, the polyurethane-cement coating has been installed and the curing process is in progress. Preparations are underway to install the equipment in its original working positions: “The biggest challenge is that the entire working area must be protected from precipitation when installing the new coating. The warehouse must be kept at a positive temperature during the installation process, as this determines how quickly the newly installed coating will cure and reach its design parameters. The fact that the fuel warehouse is located underground and has closing shields helps to ensure the required parameters,” said Artūras Paliokas, Head of the Kaunas Equipment Repair Department at Axioma Servisas.
The renovation works on the fuel warehouse of the Druskininkai boiler plant are expected to be completed in November. Up to 10 employees of Axioma Servisas will contribute to the implementation of the project.
