UAB Axioma servisas, which provides maintenance services to the industry, continues its activities in Estonia where it has implemented another project in the country’s capital. At the end of July, the company’s specialists successfully installed a gantry crane weighing as much as 67 tonnes at the storage yard of AS FRELOK, the leader in wholesale metal trade in the Baltic region. The project faced multiple challenges – this type of equipment was being installed by the team for the very first time.
The 57-metre-long and 15-metre-high crane structure was manufactured by “AXIS Tech Estonia”, a company with many years of experience in the field of metalworking.
The main body of the gantry crane was delivered to the facility in two parts, which were then welded together. Then, gabion-type supports were attached to the prepared structure, allowing the crane to transport long loads and shorten the duration of operations.
“A modern gantry crane moves at a speed of 80 metres per minute and is able to lift 12 metres or even longer loads”, Darius Imbrasas, Head of the Maintenance Department of the Eastern Region of Estonia, explained the capabilities of the equipment.
The assembled structure was moved with the help of mobile cranes and placed on 100-metre-long rails. With their help, various metal products, such as beams, profiles, railings, etc., will be transported in the storage yard.
10 Axioma service employees contributed to the installation of the crane, which has a lifting capacity of almost 13 tonnes.
“We wish to thank the customer for the trust put in us and we are happy that we had the opportunity to assemble and install the gantry crane which is widely used in the industry,” says Imbrasas.
Gantry cranes are very often used for loading-unloading and storage in open warehouses, railway stations, ports.
AS FRELOK is one of the leading metal trading companies in the Baltic States. It is engaged in the wholesale production of metal products, welded gratings and stairs, as well as galvanizing.
